Escapism

The General Concept Of Escapism Was Originally Inspired By A Quotation From Alexander McQueen. The Quotation Is As Follows: “Fashion Should Be A Form Of Escapism, And Not A Form Of Imprisonment.” This Idea Was Ruminated Upon And Reapplied. The Ways In Which Fashion Could Be A Form Of Escapism Or Imprisonment Were Explored (This Created Much Influence On The “Personality” Capsule). In Addition, The Ideas That This Quotation Produced Were Applied To, And Compared With, The Common Saying “Think Outside The Box.” An Analyzation Of The Human Psychology Behind The Desire To Think Outside The Box And Differentiate Oneself Was Also Integrated Into The Overarching Idea Of The Capsule.

What Resulted From These Inspirations And Perspectives Is The Following Stream Of Consciousness: As One Person Revolts Against A Multitude Of Restrictions And Constraints, They Run Into Multiple Others, Affecting Different Areas Of One’s Respective Life (Different Facets Of Constraint Are Dealt With, Which Can Lead To Other Constraints; As One Is Broken, Another Arises). This Multitude Of Constraints Can Be Singularly Represented By “The Box.” This Is The Constant Battle That A Person Who Wants To Be Divergent, In Particular, Must Face. They Must Rebound From One Constraint To Another, Eventually Breaking Through One, Transcending To A Point Without Restriction (Either Situational or Mental), Escaping The Box.

Furthermore, The Human Ego Loathes The Idea Of Constraint, Limitations, and Boundaries. Herein Lies The Reason Behind An Endless List Of Common Sayings Such As “The Sky’s The Limit.” and “Paddle Against The Flow.” For This Reason, Many People Generally Run From Constraint, Which They Should, As It Is Innate At This Point In Societal Development. Not That The Societal Developments Create The Right Decision, But That In Trying To Break The Societal Constraints, One May Find Oneself Following The Social Norm Or Breaking Said Constraints. The Important Distinguishing Factor In This Case Is The Person’s Overall Awareness Of The Constraint And Motivations, Which Should Outweigh Any Societal Pressure, Or Else One Will Find Oneself Searching To Break A Constraint Simply For The Reason Of Doing Such. Essentially, They Must Have A True Personal Reason To Break Their Constraint, And Not Only The Reason That Society Is Perpetuating The Idea That Thinking Outside The Box Is Desirable. A Display Of Life And This Ongoing Process Is Presented Here: Summarized By The Intended Use Of The Word: Escapism.
